BEST PRACTICES: Reinvigorating Governance of Master Data

Victoria Stasiewicz
Manager of Data Governance, HealthNow New York

Session Description

In preparation for ongoing healthcare reforms while facing an aging, declining population, HealthNow New York embarked on a plan to transform business and improve member health. A health plan that serves approximately 700,000 members, HealthNow knows it is vital that its information become a strategic asset. In this session, discover how HealthNow uses its information in master data initiatives that promote better health and enhance well-being while creating competitive advantages in a quickly changing market.

With both MDM and business process management (BPM) underway for several years at the enterprise, HealthNow is now looking for its next stage of innovation for its mature MDM program. Planning is underway for the evolution to a hybrid architecture (from consolidated model) plus additional domains beyond PATIENT/MEMBER master & PROVIDER/ORGANIZATION master.

Topics will focus on lessons learned, business benefits and future plans to support their strategy including:

• Deciding “degree of completeness”, i.e., which entities to master & how much

• Rationalizing real-time & batch MDM with EDW & other strategic systems – both targets & sources

• Leveraging the power of business glossary & data profiling with MDM
