Rajan Chandras, Director Data Architecture and Strategy, NYU LANGONE MEDICAL CENTER
Monica Mullen, Principal Solutions Marketing Manager, INFORMATICA

Master data management, data quality and reference data management are established competencies in their own right, but siloed efforts at addressing one without the others is an invitation to chaos. At NYU Langone Medical Center, the initiation of a multi-domain master data management project has led to parallel and coordinated activities in operationalizing data quality and bringing more formalism into reference data management. As a result, the MDM program is leading to greater focus and improved capabilities in data quality, organizational ontologies and controlled vocabularies.

NYU Langone Medical Center is a leading academic medical center in the heart of New York City, known for its hospitals and large number of ambulatory sites across the city, one of the country’s top-ranked medical schools, and vigorous research programs. NYU Langone is also known as a highly data-driven organization, committed to rigorous information governance at the enterprise and operational levels, and building a firm foundation of high-quality and consistent data. This commitment helps NYU Langone address the daunting challenges of meeting patient expectations, regulatory requirements, competitive pressures and fiscal goals in one of the most rapidly evolving industries today.

This session will walk the participants through the MDM journey at NYU Langone, including:

  • The evolution of a four-step MDM program
  • Creating a competency center for reference data management
  • Empowering users for data quality improvements…and holding them accountable for it
