CASE STUDY: BEYOND COMPLIANCE – WHY GOVERNANCE & MDM ARE CRITICAL FOR OPERATIONAL SUCCESS

Brian Keil, Managing Director – Global Data Governance, CHARLES SCHWAB
Kelle O'Neal, Founder & CEO, FIRST SAN FRANCISCO PARTNERS

Data Governance and MDM are critical for operational success, not just regulatory compliance.  Many times a Data Governance or MDM program is initiated to address a regulatory requirement or a compliance program.  However, just focusing on the compliance aspect of governance isn’t taking advantage of the full set of potential benefits. When governance and/or MDM are implemented solely for the purpose of compliance, generally the minimal viable solution is created to satisfy the regulators. In order not to be treated like a project and have broader business impact, governance and data mastering need to add value to multiple lines of business and across geographic boundaries.  By extending the scope of governance and MDM beyond compliance, it can truly become a value-producing discipline in your enterprise.

This session will also include as speaker an IT executive (t.b.a.) who will discuss their case study with topics such as:

  • Extending DG & MDM programs beyond compliance to achieve operational efficiencies & other improvements
  • Understanding what can be leveraged & re-used from a compliance-driven program
  • Planning for additional new new capabilities to further embed governance into your operations
