CASE STUDY: APPLYING AN EVOLUTIONARY APPROACH TO MDM

Dr. Carl Salz, Vice President, Data Solutions, Information Strategy, PIMCO

Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) is a global investment management firm headquartered in Newport Beach, CA, with over 2,400 employees working in 13 offices across 12 countries. PIMCO is one of the largest active global fixed income investment managers in the world, with over $1.91 trillion in assets under management, and is also one of the largest bond investors in the world. In the information-intensive investment banking industry, financial advisor relationship management is critical. Identifying best intermediaries, optimizing product placement and ensuring compliance throughout all sales interactions are among the challenges tackled by PIMCO with MDM. This session will share lessons learned at PIMCO in their MDM journey to (ultimately) achieving 360 views of their financial advisors by discussing these vital topics:

  • Planning an evolutionary MDM road map to automate data matching, consolidate internal data sources, and efficiently integrate third party sources of data
  • Defining workflows for data stewards to validate or override third party data and to confirm or reject automated system matching
  • Provisioning a dashboard of measurable KPIs to document improved data value to the company resulting from the MDM project
