KEYNOTE: LESSONS LEARNED FROM A GLOBAL MDM IMPLEMENTATION

Tina Rosario, Vice President, Global Data Management, SAP

In 2010, the SAP COO sponsored an information governance program to address data consistency via standards, KPIs and processes. While the implementation was a series of phased projects to demonstrate business value and gain support, the scope was global and across lines of business. The goal was to solve root causes—not just symptoms—by creating capabilities that deliver high quality master data reliably, timely and efficiently. In 2013, the SAP information governance program won the TDWI Best Practices Award for Organization Structure, and the Nucleus Research Technology ROI Award. This session will review lessons learned in the following areas;

• Setting up a Data Governance organization

• Connecting the global data strategy to business goals and initiatives

• Defining metrics and connecting them to business value
