BEST PRACTICES: HANDS ON REFERENCE DATA MANAGEMENT FOR CORPORATE FINANCE AND BEYOND

Conrad Chuang, Director - Product Marketing, ORCHESTRA NETWORKS
Wally Powell, Tax Technology Analyst, UNITED TECHNOLOGIES

Finance organizations rely on a wide range of “public” reference data (currencies, countries, etc.) and “private” reference data (legal entity hierarchies, cost centers, charts of accounts, etc.) shared across a range of business applications and user communities and are also frequently custodians of reference data utilized across the enterprise. Managing consistency and shared governance processes for Finance reference data is an increasing focus of efforts designed to minimize manual reconciliation, ensure consistency in reporting and analysis, and support governance initiatives. This session will include a case study and demo examples from Finance reference data programs in a Global 500 organization and will explore:

  • Understanding how reference data management (RDM) requirements compare to those in other MDM domains
  • Leveraging the management, consistency, & distribution of reference data in the era of big data
  • Reconciling the importance of Finance reference data initiatives alignment with other enterprise RDM requirements
