BEST PRACTICES: A FEDERATED ARCHITECTURE FOR MDM JOURNEYS FROM SINGLE TO MULTIPLE HUBS

Steve Hoskin, VP and Chief Architect, INFORMATICA

MDM journeys begin by solving the most pressing business problem– whether it be party- or product-related, or a mix of both. The journey then expands to another department or region, evolves to support another data domain, or is extended to solve an entirely different business problem. Some organizations use a single MDM hub to expand, while others implement multiple MDM hubs– one for customer and yet another for product. Irrespective of the approach taken, organizations increasingly understand the need for a "Universal MDM" strategy to address the complete requirements of the enterprise. Informatica's Universal MDM is an adaptable architecture for organizations undertaking a single MDM or multiple MDM hub approach. In this session, the benefits of a Universal MDM architecture and strategy will be examined via topics such as:

  • Identifying the requirements that dictate the need for single MDM hub vs. multiple MDM hubs
  • Leveraging a Universal MDM architecture via common services, domains, & governance layers
  • Evolving a Universal MDM architecture to support federated MDMs ("hub-of-hubs")
