CASE STUDY: REALITY CHECK ON BIG DATA & MDM FOR LARGE ENTERPRISE

Ed Unrau, Manager of Customer Information—Customer Analytics COE, CANADIAN TIRE
Jeff Wilts, Principal - Information Management, CANADIAN TIRE

Canadian Tire, the Financial Services division of one of Canada's largest retailers, has been a pioneer in its early adoption of MDM to improve credit risk and customer service via a focus on customer centricity. The project team utilized MDM to provide a complete view of the customer for analytics, customer service and credit risk strategies.  In this "update" case study session, Canadian Tire will review the ongoing successes and challenges in the continuation of the mega retailer's journey to increase the value of data to the enterprise. Thanks to Big Data (Social/Mobile/Cloud), market-leading retailers and financial service providers must deal with data as an increasingly top-of-mind issue (complexity, variety, speed).  To that end, Canadian Tire has focused on the fact that Data Governance and MDM are still fundamental to realizing value from Big Data. Two presenters will provide their perspectives on the intersection of MDM, Data Governance, Big Data and more by providing insights into their organization's next-generation MDM requirements planning. This session will provide business perspective on success factors and lessons learned on that journey by discussing topics such as:

  • Considering the overall decision architecture in the journey to become a more customer centric retailer
  • Provisioning a future-proofed MDM infrastructure to provide for increasingly connected nature of data, changing context & business demands driven by “blended commerce”
