KEYNOTE: EVOLVING REFERENCE DATA MANAGEMENT FROM PROOF-OF-TECHNOLOGY TO ENTERPRISE ROLL-OUT

Paul Lapeikis, MDM Solution Architect, STREAM INTEGRATION

Sponsored by:
Stream Integration

Recognizing the many business processes enhanced by establishing "enterprise-level" reference data, the IT organization of a large North American bank chartered a proof-of-technology (PoT) to jump start the overall initiative. Success of this PoT's twenty two goals drove stakeholder involvement, which was solidified in the development of an overall Road Map and Target Operating Model. This in turn drove the development of use cases describing how reference data would be managed and additionally the training of Data Stewards to do that management. In parallel, IBM's Reference Data Management (RDM) product was rolled out through several releases, each involving greater participation of the bank's business users and Data Stewards. During this session, participants will learn about the benefits of centralized management and distribution of reference data across the enterprise via topics such as:

  • Developing an RDM Road Map & Target Operating Model
  • Employing use cases to describe how reference data support roles actually do their jobs & interact with the tool
  • Managing the enterprise-wide roll-out of IBM's RDM product— including integration to Data Governance and the Enterprise Data Warehouse
