Susan Linnell, Business Architecture, Business & IT Transformation, ALCATEL-LUCENT
Margaret Maciejczak, ALCATEL-LUCENT

Business decisions require reliable information that is based on high quality data.  In order to improve the reliability of the enterprise information, Alcatel-Lucent has been evolving the enterprise from its “initial” state of data management to a target state where information can be used as a strategic business asset.  The evolution journey started in 2007 and is targeted to be completed in 2013.  A foundation for the transformation is a single managed source for Master Data.  Alcatel-Lucent can be considered an “early adopter” of Master Data applications, since work started with Master Data Management applications in 2006.  This session provides an overview of the enterprise transformation to creating “Information As An Asset” and the Master Data application implementations, including:

Approach, Master Data domains, transformation elements, progress to date, measuring operational savings, and lessons learned.  The transformation elements will highlight examples of changes for data processes, data architecture, information architecture and data governance.

The Master Data application implementation presentation includes: history, architecture, implementation challenges, lessons learned, and data quality deployment.
